We call it I-10 or the Freeway
-
Freeway. Should be called Cloggedway.
-
Freeways. A misnomer.
-
Interstate in the US Motorway in the UK
-
Why!!! Are you gonna come by to visit us & Bring us the burgers you promised to make for us!!!!
-
Most frequently I call it "95" or whatever other number it happens to be. Otherwise, it's usually the highway.
-
Interstate 95..I feel like I have spent more time on that highway than in my own house!
-
There are some Interstates, what I call blue roads lol! And then all the other main roads are just plain highways. Though I notice that here in the east they love to say interstates, which in CA we only said that if we were referring specifically to a certain highway as Interstate 5, for instance. But usually it was just highways in CA.
-
Sometimes in California, the roads are called, "the", as in "the 10 meets the 210" or "the 5, 405 split". Sometimes it's "I-5". Another big one is naming the freeways. "The Hollywood Freeway", and "the Glendale Freeway" for example. What we should call them during rush hour is "The Gigantic, Slowly-Moving Parking Lot Freeways" LOL. Here in Santa Barbara, people generally call it "101" or "Highway 101". Great question, Sixty B!
-
Interstate I40!!
-
I've always called it the highway. Or route 8, route 84...
-
They call it the mix master because two interstate highways come together near the center part of my town: one goes north to south and the other one goes east to west.
-
usually the number it is.. like 1 or 101 or 280...etc
-
The Highway. We have an interstate, but we call it the highway too.
-
Interstate... Highways are the main four-lane divided roads (not interstates) through the state. (See also state-roads) State roads are those better-kept two-lane roads between highways. (See also Highways) County roads can be dirt.
-
I usually say highway, and sometimes interstate.
-
The Motorway.
-
We mostly call them by number, 80; 5; 99; or 50 Apparently the numbers have certain meanings also, such the east/west have one sort of number, and north/south a different one; and a person who is familiar with this can tell a state highway from a county by the number as well. I think there is a website about how highways get their numbers.
-
In the US, I call them freeways. In Belgium, (at least in the Flemish part) they are called autosnelwegen (Dutch for motorways).
-
NH4
-
It's the "highway", as in "my way or the highway". Hahaha!
-
You can usually tell what to call it by what's written on the sign. Interstate signs say "Interstate" at the top. Highway signs have "US" written at the top.
-
interstate or freeway....i tend to mix them up sometimes
-
state highway no 1. but we do have motorways in the city, that are part of the state highway, just passin through the city.
-
When my wife is present I use the Italian word autostrada. Our TomTom is in British English so it says motorway.
-
Roadways are classified into categories such as primary, freeway, expressway, primary freeway, etc - any of these cna go from state to state - state routes will either change route designation according to which state it is passign through but US routes and interstates do not. Interstate highways are classified as primary freeways and are controlled access facilities meaning you have to get on at an interchange - Expressways are much the same but are not always controlled access. Some primary routes can be primary freeways which have limited to controlled access. They are all classified also by the type of funding used to build the facility. Thoroughly confused now??
-
motor way dual carriage way
-
I call it the highway.
-
I use them all - usually the most direct route - and that, from state to state is usually an interstate.
