Friends are always dear to me. However the following three things would cause me to contemplate ending a friendship: (1) He talks more than he listens. I would perceive that he is a person who only wants his views and opinions heard and not concern at all about my needs. (2) He does not respect me as a friend by not listening to apt advice like keeping to speed limits, speaking with more grace, obeying traffic rules, etc. (3) He does not learn to disagree without being disagreeable.

Self-centered behavior: if everything revolved around that person, there would be no room for your friendship. Lies--if there is no honesty, you have nothing anyway and the list goes on.
