Hm.. I havent played it since I was a kid (neither I nor my parents really have the time anymore..), but we usually ended it out of pity on the one who was losing before the game really was won

Yes, when my son was young, and my husband was on the road working, my cousin would come over in the evenings and we would play. After a few weeks of that, we started to make up our own rules.

Always finish. If you play by the rules, the game only takes 1 to 1 1/2 at the most to complete. If you add money to the Free Parking or things like that, the game could last forever.

If you trade for form monopolies, the game usually is over between an hour and an hour and half.
