Lochs and beautiful heather clad mountains with sharp rocky peaks and a distant stag staring straight at me.... waterfalls and icy rivers that we always used to go in on holiday every August, Feshie Bridge and leaping from the side of the gorge into the icy depths... Glen Lyon playing in the river and running around naked when I was 6, floating and playing with my mum dad and brother on 3 logs that drifted to us from upstream. Picnics and grandads tiny gas stove that we cooked bacon on for sarnies, cuppa soup and wrapping ourselves in blankets... My Closest and most loved family being together for a week, sitting round a huge oak table in the cottage, playing cards and games after home cooked meat pie... The dogs running around and getting great uncle Gordon drunk on stella by pouring it into his 2% proof tesco lager cans. Sitting round big fires on all sorts of couches and mismatched chairs while we decide what to play. Arguing over catergories in Beasts Birds and Fishes... explaining to grandmum over and over again that she has played this game before, she just can't remember... and many many more stories including skinny dipping, clay pigeon shooting, grandad falling in the river, games of cricket, rounders, frizbee and catch... They were the happiest times of my life. But grandmum can no longer walk and only wants to stay at home, grandad won't leave her, my brother is at uni in the south, my dad doesn't come on holidays with us, my mum's working, and I'm stuck in the past, full of depression wishing I was little again. x
