Yes, we sometimes do. Silly, but fun! I also call the dog my husband's son. "You aren't going to believe what your son did on the carpet today!".....usually accompanied by crossed arms and a foot tapping on the floor :)

I have two dogs and two older kittens. My son does refer to himself as the Ragdoll kitten's "dad."

We have cats and they get called all sorts - ranging from "grumpy old woman" to "babies". I'm often saying "Your daughter's home" referring to my daughters cat ~ or "Did your daughter come for breakfast?" LoL

I don't lie my friend so I am obligated to tell you the truth... When my 43-year-old son visits us from Honolulu I do refer to him as "your brother" to our cat Tigger. There! I've admitted it! Dotty? Yah, well, maybe! :)
