Both of them are no longer with us. My grandma mom's side died when my mom was still a kid, while my grandma dad's side died when I was a teen.
-
Unfortunately.
-
Yes!
-
I have one still alive. My mothers side. Both grandparents on my fathers side are gone. They died a long time ago.
-
All my granparents have long passed. I really only knew two. My mother's dad, "Papa", and my dad's mother, "Granny". Two wonderful people, their likes will never be seen again. They were from a special generation. My dad's father was killed in a mining accident long before I was born. My mom's mother died with pneumonia, but it was an epidemic, in the 1930's. Long before anti-biotics. Granny lived to 92 yrs. She was quite a gal. I got most of my interest in history from her,...listening to her stories of the "old days". She was a little "pioneer girl". And she was tough. Very tough. But she was a cream puff when it came to her grandkids. I was lucky just to have known her.
-

No. I lost both grandmothers within 6 months of each other. My paternal grandmother died on an operating table (her heart suddenly stopped) while a surgeon tried to fix her broken hip, back in January, 1990. I was the last person in our family to see her alive. My maternal grandmother died of a brain hemmorhage (in a hospital bed) due to a tumor, in July, 1989.

Neither are alive. My maternal grandmother died in a car accident in 1981 (ironically, on the way back from a family funeral). My paternal grandmother died of breast cancer Easter weekend in 1997 (outliving her oldest son, my father who died of prostate cancer in 1991).

My paternal grandmother is dead. She was given six months to live in 1997, and not only did she live until 2003 she outlived her husband (who died in 1998) and her son (died in 2001). My maternal grandmother and great grandmother are both alive.
-
My moms mother is alive and well at 72 and so is her mother at 96. My dads parents have both died however. My grandfather died in 1998 from a heart attack and my grandmother was given six months to live in 1997 and lived until 2003!

Never got to meet 3 of them, 2 on my maternal or 1 paternal side, they all died within 18 months surrounding my birthday. My 1 grandpa that did make it to see me died when I turned 10, 2 days after my birthday. Unfortunantly, I never really got to know him because my mom and dad divorced when I was 2 and she moved me to SC. When I was 8 I got to meet him and my dad again, but G'pa was already gone mentally. I really missed out on a lot.
