No, maybe in Kindergarten I did. I prefer calculators these days:):)
-
No , I haven't. I've never seen anyone use one either.
-
In public school they made us use it instead of a calculator for a few weeks to show us that it's faster for basic math. So, I guess I could say yes.
-
No but we haven't to a small grocery store own by a Chinese family they didn't have a cash register but a Chinese Abacus.

I think the last time was in first grade and that was only for S*it and Giggles.

Yes. We got taught to use them in school. We were not expected to use them but we had to learn how. My ex had one and never knew how to use it, and many years later after I was taught, I was still able to pick it up and show him how it's done:)
-
Nope, but I've used a sliderule, does that count? lol
-
When I was small and was enrolled in Chinese Sunday school, I learned to use it. I don't know how to use one now though.
-
I know I've used one but it seems so long ago in a galaxy far far away.
-
yes... in primary school
-
Yes, at school, and I used sticks too.
-
Many a times. I went to coaching classes to learn abacus.
-
At school we had one when I was about 5 and now thinking about it i think i did have one at home at that age too. thanks for stirring a memory of something i had totally forgotten about at such a young age.
-
Yes I have. I used to be really good with it but have forgotten how. And I used to do this counting with my fingers, drumming them on the desk that was even more useful because you didn't need the abacus or a calculator. It was faster than either of those too:-) But I don't remember what it was called.

Yes. They are good for visual learners and teaching beginning mathematics. But nowadays we have the internet and can animate visual learning. How far we have come! Watching Brian Green animate string theory! And I thought schoolhouse rock was brilliant back in my childhood days!
