  • Watching movies and TV shows, or playing games where the main character is the bad guy isn't a bad thing by itself - I love the show "Dexter", and in Star Wars games, I like choosing Sith characters... But if you think this person actually fantasizes about carrying out some of those actions, you may want to talk to them about it, or seek help.
  • They could be walking a fine line. Do they torture or mutilate animals or have a history of bed-wetting? (Oddly, those are two of the most common traits of serial killers.) Fantasizing's kosher, setting Fido aflame somewhat less so. In any case, it could be argued that their problems pale in comparison to the problem of those around them...
  • I suppose it is normal to some degree,of course there are other factors to consider. But it is actually the act that is the problem and not the fantasy. However always follow your gut feeling when around someone you feel may have a problem.
  • I read books and watch shows about serial killers, and have mentioned "I could kill her" to people, but I'm not actually going to do it! How do you know they are fantasizing about killing/hurting people, do they tell you this?
  • That sounds like me when I was younger. I had a lot of anger. People find different ways to deal with things. It may or may not indicate a psychological problem.
  • I would distance myself from them .... Then; I'd talk to their parents or someone in their family about getting them help .... before it was too late .
  • Fantasizing about killing and hurting others is showing the person may have a serious personality disorder, the knowledge that a person obtains from reading such things remains in his memory. If that persons has a bad moment and snaps and then kills or hurts others it will be the sole responsibility of that person if the person is in full control of his mind. Otherwise it is the responsibility of those in his family as they should have foreseen what could happen. This is how school killings take place.
  • The key words in your question are "constantly" and "always". The person you are talking do have a problem. As he/she hasn't commit a crime (I assume that because you did not mention any), there is nothing you can do except to make his/her family aware of the situation so the person get help. You should also watch your step around that person.
  • What form of fiction doesn't have such?
