I think cotton is the worst. Even when you buy pre-shrunk clothing, it still shrinks. I don't put anything cotton in the dryer unless I don't care that it's going to shrink or that I know is not going to shrink any further. I always hang my cotton clothing up to dry. Cotton is also really bad about creating fuzz.

but cotton will only shrink if not preshrunk and if dried in the dryer wet and on high heat. Low heat might not shrink the cotton.. Low heat or tumble dry.

Wool is the worst, but they all shrink some.

they shrink if you throw them in the dryer wet and then dry them in the dryer. If you throw them in the dryer, not wet, they won't shrink as much.
