To an extent, yes. If one were to do nothing but cause problems for everyone else, one would eventually find oneself as persona non grata, which would make life much more difficult.

It is free to be nice and should come naturally rather than think that you are nice. Being nice is part of being friendly. It’s better to be friendly rather than be an enemy. Being not nice to people also means being disrespectful so people who are not nice are better off being avoided.

Jesus Christ said we are to love all others, so yes in this way we are to be nice to others.
