Mohammed Reza Pahlavi, better know as The Shah of Iran had a secret police force called SAVAK (Sazman-e Ettela'at va Amniyat-e Keshvar, in English: "Intelligence and Security Organisation of the Country"). It was disbanded by the Islamic government after the 1979 revolution.
