  • Some of these southern ones are pretty odd...such as the one about accidentally sweeping someone's shoes being bad luck for the person in the shoes (and there's some silly thing you're supposed to do to reverse the bad luck, I can't remember what), or the one about eating hog jowls and black eyed peas on new years for good luck. (I really dislike black-eyed peas, and who is going to volunteer to eat hog jowls?)
