  • I've picked up hitch hikers a couple of times, but never done it myself.

I've picked up others as well, but never with kids in the car. I was picked up by someone with kids in the car once, but it was a whole family. I've also told a hitchhiker they could get in the back of the truck, but wouldn't let them in the cab. But that had more to do with the fact I had stuff in the passenger seat. Still, you have to listen to your gut. But its not as common these days. Its not as necessary.
  • Yes. I had to hitchhike to and from work for about a month while I was trying to buy a car. I had the money and my supervisor was selling me the car, but he wanted to make sure it was working right before letting it go. Then there was a paperwork technicality, but I had a job and I had to get there! I wasn't 'just a fast food worker', I was the manager and I had to set an example! But that was when I was healthy and had a job. :(
  • I have never hitchhiked but picked up a few. 😄
  • The longest I ever hitchhiked was over 1600 miles. Later when I was in university I hitchhiked home a couple of times each month and back. This was back in the 50s and 60s. I have also picked up several back then until the 1970s. Today I would not hitchhike or pick up anyone doing so, It is just too dangerous now with all the crazies out there.
