  • I am currently going through something similar and have been to the hospital 3 times for tests in the past 3 weeks. Mine has been attributed to translated pain from muscular strain in my upper abdomen, but I was never so sure I was having a heart attack in my life. I had $30,000 worth of tests done. If you are having chest pain, go see a doctor, pronto.
  • It could be referred pain..where you have like say a pain in ur foot and you feel it in ur hip.
  • I don't know about abdominal gas per se, but I had a condition called esophagitis, which is irritation of the esophagus (most often caused by acid reflux). One day, the pain got so bad that I called an ambulance. I also found that it would occasionally radiate to the edges of my chest or up into my shoulders. Thankfully, a regimen of taking stomach acid suppressors (e.g. Prilosec) and eating a blander diet got rid of the irritation. I hope your situation resolves as easily. Good luck.
  • In a big way. I get it so bad I think I am having a heart attack. I went to the ER recently and later had heart tests done, no problem found. Pressure can cause extreme discomfort. I started using antacids such as Tums and Rolaids. This had helped a lot.
  • I also have been suffering from chest pains, went thru echocardiogram, chemical stress test (which hurt like heck) and then an arteriogram and everything says my heart is fine. I also was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in June 2007, a rare form called islet cell. Major surgery was performed, which removed half my pancreas, half my stomach and duodenum. I was placed on pancreatic enzymes 3 per meal and also was told to eat a thing of yogurt once a day at least. The yogurt calms the bacteria and helps with digestion and the fermentation of bacteria and food. I was also put on an antibiotic for 30 days. It seemed to calm all of the problems down and Im back to normal now.
  • It could also be chest wall pain. Usually comes from picking up heavy stuff, excessive sneezing, coughing, or just blowing your nose to hard. It's the swelling of your chest muscles and tissue. Nothing serious but it hurts A LOT! It was something my doctor couldn't figure out. I had to go to the hospital to get the proper x rays and blood tests. I was over it in a week with medication. It felt like gas and would "travel" around my chest. They told me what that feeling was but I honestly forgot. I was in too much pain to listen :(
  • Hello, I started hurting under my left breast bone on Monday night. When I woke up on Tuesday I could hardly move. I have to take shallow breaths and a deep breath hurts SO bad. I have taken all the medicines that people have named. I am on Nexium now. I wish someone could tell us what to do. Someone please help.
  • I went for every test under the sun for my heart and lungs last year. All perfect. I have something called Barrets syndrome which is where the lining of my esophegus has some cell changes down by my stomach. this was due to years of heart burn and only using tums to fix it.I take nexium everyday now. The pains i still experience once in a while i believe is gas. the pains in my chest really feel like heart attack pain but go away in about 5 minutes, then come back a few minutes later. after an hour or 2 they go away until i eat something dumb again. Gas ex has helped, tums has not. why the gas goes to my chest, back and neck is the question I have.
  • It they are severe enough you will hurt in your toes.
