Back in the 70s, a friend and I would play like 15-20 games a night, listening to the stereo and yakking. We were pretty well-matched. Then, around 11PM, we'd go over to the park and play tennis (no one else was out there, and we could turn the lights on to play).

Do you know why amusement park thrill rides are so much fun? Riding them affords us one of those rare opportunities when we're NOT worried about bills, NOT worried about what we look like, NOT worried about ANYTHING because we're forced to drop EVERYTHING... ...and simply experience the moment. It's one of the few times in life we actually LIVE instead of go through the motions of living. That's how I feel when playing chess...equally matched or not. The only other thing comparable is an orgasm.

I wish! I cannot remember ever playing a game of chess with anyone and winning! How pathetic is that? Happy Thursday IS! :) ((hugs))

I have two friends whom I have known for over 20 years. All the three of us are equal to one another where chess is concerned. Each one of us is always anticipating our game with any one of the others. We have been playing chess for the past 20 years at east once a week!

Yes. My Son.
-
No. I rot at chess.

Great question. No, but I have a friend whom I've started 100's of games of chess with during the past 15 years and not once have we finished. Big baby can't take it that I don't have a favorite player for him to capture and him's too big a puss to finish the game when he sees I have him within 5 moves. Yeah, we're equally matched...I won't give in either, I'll admit I've walked away from more than one board when I caught his angle. But I've been slick about it..."dancing two year old aces chess board"...It wasn't me man...he he he
