it's blue in one direction and red in the other. Exposure to oxygen makes blood red.

they just seem that color. I was told that our blood was blue and that when it touched the air it turned Red which I later learned that wasn't true. It just appears blue through our skin. http://www.globalclassroom.org/blublud.html

Blood only looks red when oxygen hits it. When it's in the vein it has very little oxygen and is very dark.
