  • It's a total eclipse of the moon where the reflected light from the earth gives the dark eclipsed moon a blood red appearance. The mid west will see at least some of it if their weather doesn't hide it but it should be completely visible to most of the west coast. Partial eclipse (west coast) will begin about 3:48 am in the morning, be totally eclipsed by 4:51 am which will last (totally) until 6:07 am.

  • A super moon is when the orbit of the moon is at Perigee (closest to) around the earth. This makes the moon to appear about 14% larger than normal. A Blue moon is when there are two full moons in one month. The blood moon is created when the sun, moon, and earth line up with the earth casting a shadow on the moon. Like a solar eclipse. The moon in total eclipse tends to be red in colour. The last time this occurred in the USA was in 1866.
