Good enough to find my way to where I am going.

Not bad, I was a cavalry scout in the army, that means reconnaissance and that means knowing were you are...LOL. I can read maps and use a compass. I also agree that women have it right by the way, you use landmarks over anything else first.
-
Not so good. I use Map Quest a lot for exact directions. I can't drive and study a map at the same time, so I really like GPS :-)
-
I have no problem understanding them, but it's hard to see them these days :(
-
Extremely good. I have to do this for work and travel through all sorts of byzantine residential neighborhoods. I do screw up occasionally, but not often.
-
Very good. Love to take driving trips so it helps;)
-
Better at GPS systems, keithold! ;-)
-
I'm pretty good at reading maps but damned if I can fold one back up.
-
Pretty good. I can get anywhere with an accurate map. Heck, I can even fold one.

i used to have a box of maps to cover areas where i worked, bout 60 little mapbooks and a road atlas, then i got a satnav- what a brilliant timesaving device
-
Just good enough read it and tell were i'm going.

I learned in the Boy Scouts to map read.

The typical Western map: really good. I was sort of a map fanatic as a kid. I **loved** looking at atlases and also at historical maps. As a fairly young boy I was assigned the task of map/navigator on our family trips (and I loved doing it).

When you're a professional tourist, you need to plan routes from one end of the country to the other. This was especially important in the days before GPS. So, I've done pretty well in my lifetime. I've been through all of the contiguous 48 states as well as several Provinces in Canada - including Yellowknife, located about 250 miles south of the Arctic Circle. I've driven on the ice roads and experienced a couple of aurora borealis light shows.
-
Awful. Never used one. Phone directions are better 1/3/14
-
I think pretty good. I don't drive so as far as I know can't use GPS.
-
I am generally pretty good at reading most any map even topo maps.
-
I can read it, but more importantly I can correctly REFOLD IT!
