  • I defend myself and tackle the slander head-on.
  • stunned! And then proceed to defend myself and hopefully, in the process make them feel like crap. (that is if the person was being mean, if it was a friend I would just defend myself and try to find out why they thought the way they did)
  • Of course I would tell the person I did not do this thing. Ive been there.
  • i usually stay quiet.. if they asked my explanation i do but if not i just stay quiet... as far as i know what is right and what is really the story.. i stay quiet.. i don't like talking with arguements..
  • I hate these situations. It's so awkward and if they don't want to/know you that well, they won't believe you anyway. And you're thinking, if I argue too much it really will look like I did it. I just get confused, but I'll usually say you got it all wrong mate.
  • This has happened to me before, and because I stuck to my guns and refused to admit to something I hadn't done, I lost my job.
  • Perform the wrong they accused me of, just to piss them off and show them I don't care.
  • i'm no angel. but if i didn't do it,i guarentee you would rather starve a crazy pitt-bull for a week.then throw him a bone and try and take it back.
  • I just give them an evil lil grin, look them in the eye, and say, "Prove it".
  • Tell them I did no such thing, and if they don't believe me, there's nothing really that I can do about it.
  • Wells, I'd either say, "Believe what you want, I don't care," or, "oh. ok."
  • I'd throw a temper tantrum and hold my breath until they take it back. If that didn't work I wouldn't have the faintest idea what to do, but so far it has always served me well, knock on wood, and I suggest you do the same, in fact I demand it or else I'll hold my breath.
  • I confront it head on -
  • I would let them know that they were mistaken, then I would drop it. I would not feel the need to prove I did anything wrong if I didn't. Let them prove I did...if they can. I know the truth and that is enough. Unless it involved something criminal...then I would let my attorney handle it.
  • I'd end up having a fight.
  • This is a really important question. It's essential that we understand that there is no one way that anyone reacts to anything. I read in the newspaper or see on TV that a person is suspected of murdering his wife and children because he did not react in the manner that was thought normal. Some people react hysterically--others go into a sort of trance state. neither is evidence of anything.
  • take my mom's advice
  • Take it easy and let them go through all the proceedures until it's proved it wasn't you . Believe me you'll get more satisfaction out of it. A Union Rep helps.
  • Write or express what exactly I did and then let it go. It happened once, at work and went rather well. Unfortunately, I am often accused by my sister who regularly seeks a "monster" who is out to get her. For the sake of peace and to just make her happy, I even once apologized for things I did not do. That was a mistake. I never will do that again. Now I hang up on her when she accuses me of things that she makes up. I believe she is borderline...
  • I'd go on and blame Toker, and say that Wolfen told me so! (In Ozark vernacular "Nope, it was Midnighttoker what dunn it... Wolfen dunn tolt me so"
  • When I make a mistake I am the first to admit it and try to figure out how to keep it from happening twice. When I am falsely accused, I stick to my guns, and try to talk it out like a professional. If that fails, and it happens to be my boss who is tossing the accusations, I have no qualms going over his head to the HR department. Needless to say, he does not like me, I do not like him, and there is nothing he can do because I keep documentation and have an exemplary work record.
  • I would ask them to prove that their slander is accurate.
  • Fight for my innocence.
  • With outrage
  • I find out who is accusing me and go and ask them why and to prove it.
  • arson. Not really! I would dog them till they admitted they were wrong.
  • Initial reaction would be "Anger" being accused is a serious matter. But then I don't owe anyone an explanation just to save myself. Just as long as my conscience is clear and God knows I'm not guilty, that's all that matters.
  • I would be mad as my initial reaction. But then I don't owe anyone an explanation just to save myself. Just as long as my conscience is clean and God know's I'm not guilty, it all that matters. I believe in Karma anyway.
  • Wrongly accuse them of falsely doing something.
  • i think the best way to deal is is to stay quiet when someone is accusing you. Revolting during an argument will only add to the worse situation and you may get emotional. So better be quiet and talk to the person who accused you, later. I am sure this will make the person realize his/her fault given he/she is not an ass.
  • well usually since it won't really harm anyone I just get angry, then leave the conversation on the upper hand by stating "Well you know what, I really don't care what you believe, because i didn't [insert accusation here], and as long as I know it, that's all that I care about. Your opinion and beliefs about me mean nothing to me"
  • This happend to me last week! This grumpy old man in our dept. is the odd ball out. He went to our boss and told her I was chasing him around for sporting-event tickets. Which wasn't true. He urged me to take the tickets so he could plot my demise. My jerky boss believes him and confronts me. I told her that wasn't even half true. But did I confront the grumpy old man?...no why? because I have to see him everyday and i don't need him to make me any more uncomfortable than I already am... Argh...
  • It's upsetting to me, but at the same time i consider there may a reasonable explanation as to why the accusation is being made. If it's not something that can be cleared up then i'm wanting to see the proof of my 'crime' so i can either explain myself or make amends.
  • cool ...ask for proof...get a witness...and defend myself until I was proven in the right ..accept the bosses appology...then find out who made the lie up and rip them a new ar*ehole...with a smile :)
