  • They certainly can be painful ... one of my friends often tells the story of when he had a nipple piercing and then had to go straight to the nearest bar to try to drink the pain away while keeping as still as possible. I found this account of a nipple piercing which cost $45: http://www.bmezine.com/pierce/08-nipple/A10413/nipouch.html
  • I got both my nipples pierced a couple of months ago, and i can tell you that it really wasnt that bad. my first one on the right i cant even remember hurting, the left one i remember hurt for 2 seconds and then that was it. i had it done with a friend who also said the same thing, except that when he did her first nipple she remembers feeling a pinch but that was it, and the second one hurt for 2 seconds while he pierced it. its done very quickly. then because of the COLD when we went outside you know how it goes...it kind of stung a little but wasnt bad at all. after about 2 weeks everything felt normal on my nipples again and it was all good. just make sure you clean them twice a day!! and a good long shower, a soak, and thorough clean everyday helps too. mine cost $70 for both.
  • I had my nipple pierced 8 years ago. I can vividly, VIVIDLY! remember the trauma it caused me :p The piecing itself was minor, a slight pinch. Within a couple hours my nipple was very sore. I had to wear a tight bra for about a week afterwards. Even the slightest rubbing of my t-shirt against the piercing would cause pain. I should also mention the cleaning. I fondly remember cleaning it 2 times a day for the first week, and I have to say it was not fun, I had to build myself up just to clean it. Obviously, cleaning the piercing was very painful as well. Have I lost you? Are still interested in a nipple piercing? Hey, it was well worth it. I promise.
  • It kind of depends on whether you're male or female. Females actually get their nipple pierced as to where most males get the area right behind their nipples pierced due to the size of the nipples being much smaller. Mine hurt like hell for a few minutes but after that not much pain at all. Make sure you clean them well as said above and you should be good to go. I paid $40 for both of mine (place was having a special) otherwise I would have had to pay $80. Don't forget to use good quality jewelry too.
  • Mine did not hurt at all, the only thing that hurt was the clamp if you use sea salt and a little water this tuffens them up and they will stop being sore in 2 days no kidding mine cost me 100.00 with guys it does hurt a little more only because they pierce the skin around the nipples my boyfriend had his done at the same time.
  • Of course it will hurt, all you have in that area are nerve endings.
  • I got mine done last Sunday (today is Friday.) It cost $60 for the pair. I found that getting them pierced REALLY hurt. The second one more than the first. For an hour or so after they felt like they were burning. It doesn't help that I did this mid winter and everytime I get cold, they hurt. The next day they didn't hurt as bad. But I find they feel better in a bra. When they rub against my tshirt they hurt. I don't regret getting them done, I love the way they look, but I can't wait for the pain to go away.
  • If you are worrying about the pain, don't get them. The price ranges from 50-80 dollars. Mine hurt but it's what you gotta go through. The after care is WAY worse than the actual peircing. Make sure you are prepared to see your nipples bleed and puss for months!
  • I know this is an old question but like myself other people may be looking for these answers still.. It definitely is different for everyone. I just got both of my nipples pierced 3 days ago and I was terrified bc I kept hearing how painful it was and that it is the worst piercing of all. Of course there is a slight pain but it is so quick that you forget about it almost instantly! If you have had anything else pierced ( excluding ears) you can handle it :o). Since it has only been 3 days for me I don't know about the healing process but so far so good! It does not hurt when I clean them in the shower at all. They definitely are a little sore once in a while but one advil fixes that easily! I was told...DO NOT SLEEP ON YOUR STOMACH.
  • you can pay up to $50. have you tried non piercing at sites like www.nipplecharms.com? that might be an alternative. http://www.nipplecharms.com sallie
  • I've had various piercings in my time and the answer is always -YES! Of course they hurt- it's a needle going through flesh. But the good news is it's only painful for a second. Then it burns..then it's sensitive..then nothing - like it was there all along. (If you keep it clean etc. etc.) As for price - it depends but ask around - call different places or ask people with obvious piercings where they got it done?, how much?, was it clean? would they recommend it etc.
  • It feels like a pinch that lasts for about ten seconds while the needle goes through completely....then, its done. You get a weird feeling when the piercing rubs against your clothes/bra etc. and when the metal presses against your skin it just feels cold....I didnt feel any pain when I was cleaning it....and I wouldn't know how much you would pay for it, mine was free...my cousin pierces. I can get one whenever, all I do is buy the stuff....piercing needle, jewelry, alcohol, cotton balls, neosporin etc.... :)
  • To answer my own two and a half year old question- I finally got my nipple pierced. Weirdly, I got it done almost exactly two years after I asked this question (I mean, a couple days difference!). Anywho, it wasnt as bad as I was expecting. The woman froze it first, although I didnt ask her to, and it was probably a good thing. I didnt even notice the needle going through, I just looked down and it was there. The freeze wore off in about 10 minutes and then it ached constantly for about two hours and that was it(apart from the few times Ive caught it in the shower- NB be careful with those shower puff things). It did take a long time to fully heal and stop being kinda crusty tho. All in all- love it!
  • If you save your nipples and dimes, maybe you can have both sides done... :)
  • yes it hurts alittle it depends on size of needle avgn is 14ga. it will hurt for a couple secs and then alittle wieh the rings are put but its over so fast. most costs are from 60.00 to 80 dollars for both nipples you should do both when your there then its done you love how they feel i have 12ga. love them.
  • Probably will hurt, but we all have different pain thresholds so only you will be able to tell us that one! And depends where you live. In the UK its about £30-40
  • I had mine done about 6 years ago, and YES, it was the second most painful thing in my life (1st was a urinary infection). It bled like mad too. I remember a pool of blood in my bra afterwards. It was very very sensitive for the next month or so, and any movement in the area caused profuse bleeding. You become more protective of your boob in this time than ever. You basically wanna kill anyone that knocked you in that area (but after a brief moment to recover from the pain!). Paid £25 for it when I got mine :) But its starting to grow out, so attempting to take it out now.. :(
  • i wouldn't call myself a sook but this is right up there with the most painful experiences of my life lol. but it doesn't last long. cost me AU$80 the 1st time, $90 the next.
  • i am thinking about having it done will you still feel it being done even if it get frozzen i have a very low pain trethhold
  • Are nipple piercings painful.... I'd have to say it depends 1. on your tolerance to pain and 2. the sensitivity of your nipples. I just had mine pierced yesterday and they are VERY sensitive. My piercings hurt intensely for about 3 hours, during which I took advil (any ibuprophen product will work). After the three hours the pain came down to a very mild throb, and by the end of the night I was fine. (They were pierced at approximately 4:30pm) Today, they feel fine, so I doubt there is any lingering pain for anyone else either. As far as payment, it varies greatly, but I caught a deal at my favorite piercing parlor for $50 for both. Generally they charge $50 per piercing other than ears.
  • i had mine done today lol the painful bit was wen kirsty (the piercer) clamped my nipple, it was over really quickly and wasnt painful at all, i now have a shiny dark blue nipple piercin which i love and paid £15 for at blue banana
  • I have a really high tolerance for pain and my nipples aren't even sensitive but when i got both of mine done it HURT. It was probably one of the most physically painful experiences of my life. The piercer did not numb my nipples beforehand either. All she did was spray green soap, then alcohol and then iodine on them and clamp them. the clamps didn't even hurt. The needle DID. Its a very different kind of pain than what I was expecting. It hurt a whole lot more than I had anticipated too. After the initial piercing they only hurt a little bit after that with very mild bleeding for just a few hours. I paid $65 for mine which were done at the same time. Full healing time is 6 to 12 months for women and 3 to 6 months for men. But they will be healed enough after the first 6 weeks to CAREFULLY change the jewelry. You can stop doing the sea salt soaks after about 2 weeks, just keep them clean. (The best way to do a sea salt soak on a pierced nipple is to get a CLEAN shotglass and fill it halfway with distilled water. Mix in a half a teaspoon of sea salt and heat in the microwave for about 5-7 seconds, place the shotglass over your nipple and lay on your back on a bed or something like that. Keep over each nipple for about 15 minutes each. Be sure to rinse them afterwards) *SEA SALT IS A NATURAL ANTISEPTIC*
  • Well my piercer told me that's the most painful piercing to get after I got both mine done. I looked at her dumbfounded because it wasn't as bad as I had thought it was going to be. Mainly, make sure the piercer is top notch, that does really affect the pain of any piercing. All in all, go for it. You'll feel SO sexy afterward. I payed about $100 for both of mine plus tip.
  • My opinion is, why mess with a good thing? I have found toys and jewelry that gives me just the right feeling. My nipples are large and puffy --- I imagine piercing would really hurt. Some of my friends have done it and like the feeling afterwords, despite the initial pain. But I like mine as they are.
  • Getting my nipples pierced was the most painful of the body art that I've ever gotten. Worse even than the tattoo on my ribs. After the initial piercing it takes months and months for them to totally heal and they'll hurt like hell sometimes until they're completely healed. A lot of places have an above the waist piercing price that is between $20-$50.
  • I didn't find it too painful getting it pierced but wow it hurt when my son ripped the ring clear through my nipple! : )
  • Mine hurt a little.. I paid about $80 for both. .
  • I had mine done. I have an incredibly high pain tolerance, and my piercer said I was in the top 5% of people he had done. I felt just a small pinch and it was over. Afterwords, I only felt slight pain (just my body getting used to having another object in it. Again, my pain tolerance is high, and I barely felt a thing. It cost me about $50 for both (jewelery included).
  • Well I got my nipples last November and it was really quick, very little bleeding and only stung when they were putting the jewerly in after the needle. I did have a slight swelling issue that is now gone. I had to go and get longer bar bells because my nipples were so swollen the balls were digging into my skin and it hurt very bad.
  • YES. 100% YES.!! i had mine done and wanted maybe both, but asked for one. felt the needle go in, hurt a lotttt! (much worse than bellybutton). then it hurt REALLLY BAD...so much so i swore..felt faint..said owwwwwww fkg hell that hurts...(and i mean AGONY.) and passed out. spark out i was for a whole minute. (which felt like an hour.!) came around..felt sick, it stil was sore, but at least the ring thing was in there..! it sort of pulsatingly ached for a few hours after, next day was fine and hasnt hurt since. bear in mind i have a VERY VERY low pain threshold though, and the nipple wasnt frozen. boy will i find one that freezes next time!! cos want a monroe too...but a tad wary now!! if anything the bellybutton is the more aggravating to clear up cos if u jog it it hurts, and the nipple gets jogged far less often obviously. so, theres my example...for any1 with a low pain threshold.seek out a piercer that uses anaesthetic..if there is such a thing?? but....it looks nice! LOL.

  • p.s. i paid around £35. for one nipple.
  • I didn't feel anything other then a weird pulling, but that's mainly just due to nerve damage an blah blah blah...anyways mine cost 40
  • Nipple piercings are painful a bit. The first one is not that bad, but the second one hurts like ****. They say this is due to the endorphins that are rushing the body after the initial one. You can expect to pay any where from $45 to $50 a piercing.
