During the day, it cannot run this fast. At night, under a dark moon, it should be possible at full speed. If it is running directly at you, it should show much less striping under any situation. A race horse runs at about 30 mph, so, I'd guess a short legged zebra would top out at 20 mph, more or less.

I don't know exactly *how* fast but if it had a lion behind it I reckon it'd be going fast enough to blur some stripes.

The zebra has to be clocking Mach one in order to see gray instead of the pretty pattern of black and white.

Faster than he can run. Maybe you could be in a jeep with a video camera going in the opposite direction and get it to look grey. lol
