Ummmm...did your parents arrange your marriage or something?
-
we can.
-
I like to believe that I do. :)

It's always our choice. We can guide our heart and we can allow what we want to come into our minds, rejecting or nurturing. It's part of growing up and becoming our own person.
-
We can always choose who we love. We can't always choose whether or not they will love us back.
-
Because if you had to choose, would you really be content to love that person? You can't choose love, love chooses you! IMO true love is unconditional and to make a choice of who to love is impossible to do without imposing a condition by the sheer virtue of that choice. Consider that you didn't choose your parents and you have children you didn't "choose" but for the most part you love these people more than any other person(s) in your life.

I make my own decisions & choose who i love!
-
You can if you choose all.
-
Anyone should be entitled to choose. It shouldn't be forced upon you.

Arranged marriages
-
Thats a strong assumption. I think we can choose. I feel I did.
-
We do choose whom we love. It is not always clear to us why.
-
I think we do, but I'm not sure that we always choose the right one.
-
Love is spontaneous. It is positive. Human minset is positive by default. We can only love everyone. Only to hate you can pick and choose. Still you have love even for those whom choose to hate!

Love is Aphrodite, and we are mere mortals
-
Sometimes we can, other times we don't. Love like everything else can be random and accidental. Emotions and feelings do not always, (probably most of the time don't), coincide with common sense. That's life. . .
-
i have no idea if i knew i would love someone else

I believe, in a way, we do choose. Although romantic love or passionate love is the initial spark and often times that is involuntary, you have to remember that after that compassionate love actually takes work. Because it takes work, you often see people giving up. Passionate love only lasts for just over two years at most. At that point, you choose whether you love this person enough to continue the relationship.

...because the heart has it's own life...

Love is not a mental thing ; ) It's a human thing, which is ruled by those human bodies of ours.
-
we can... or atleast I can. few of us have that level of mental control
