It depends. My mother was given 2 years and she died in less than 1.

I hope longer than a year thanks to medical advances and early detection. My father was given 3 months after it was discovered he had lung cancer, he died 3 days later. My mother was told she would recover completely, she died in 3 months.

If it is completely true and I knew I only had a year no more and no less I would live every single day with as much happiness as I could. I have never heard a doctor tell anyone they had a certain amount of time but gave a guess like saying if your lucky you will have about a year. I had a friend who was given this about a year he made it one day shy of a year from making it. I personally believe he would have lived much longer but from the day he got the news he just gave up.

The estimate of time is really the Dr.'s best guess, i would think with treatment and luck you would live longer.
