  • I would really have to say it depended on how well I got to know the person, how long I have talked to the person. I see no reason why one couldn't be a friend to someone on the internet. My brother in law married someone he meant on the net, and he moved to the Philippines.
  • Yes, I have mad many friends on the internet.
  • If I didn't know them I couldn't make them my friend. But if I knew them through the internet, I could make them my friend and I've done that many times, since 1995. Some I still have as dear friends.
  • I wouldnt count them as a friend unless I knew them in person..it doesn't seem realistic to me.
  • A nice way to know someone is to make them your friend isn't it?
  • Yeah, met my best friend on the internet. I have plenty of friends, but no one that I developed such a strong bond with. Just visited her a few weeks ago.
  • I suppose so. Everybody is my friend until they give me reason not to be.
  • It depends how you classify "friend". As a close friend/best friend, I would probably say no. As a friend as in companion or someone who I communicate with and chat with, I don't see why not. :)
  • i would have to talk to them and get to know them. Maybe through webcam or something like that before i would feel close to them.
  • A friend is something personal. People on the interenet aren't all that personal to me. So I guess not.
  • I have . even married one off of Myspace
  • Of course .. I have many "internet" friends :)
  • I met my now fiance on an internet dating site, granted, we exchanged 1 email, talked for half an hour on MSN and then met the same day for lunch at a local pub. We got on like a house on fire and now 2 yrs later are blissfully happy, I have 2 kids that he met within a week and everything is fine. Dont get me wrong, I had help with trusting him as it turned out that an old friend of mine knew him when he was married and told me all about how badly his ex wife had treated him so it was easier to trust knowing alittle about his past. Good luck, all I say is, if they are too far to meet in person. dont waste your time befriending them. you cant share a bottle of wine with a computer.
  • I just did, in a Facebook friend type way.
  • yeah its a good way especially if everyone around you is simple minded and always screw you over
  • Yup! Just did. *waves at Jeana*
  • i would piss in my pants for hours if i were you :P
  • NO!!!!!!!!!
  • i would make him my friend but id never invite him or her or never allow them to see exactly where i live.
  • I have "many" friends here on AB. This is where they will stay also. I don't believe I will meet any in real life though.
  • I have people on the internet that I consider friends. But that doesn't mean I treat them the same as someone I have know since kindergarden.
  • yes why not. As long as you are aware that an internet friend is a 'pretend friend' - you pretend to know them and they pretend to know you. There's nothing wrong with talking to people regularly on this or any other site as long as common sense is applied. In short this means that you do not give away any information about yourself (including pictures) that you would not be happy to announce in a public place. You must be aware that what you read on the internet may or may not be the truth, you have no way of knowing. An internet friend could not be farther apart from a real friend in the real world. You do not know each other, have never met each other, have not spent time together and no emotional bond can form. The internet is a great leveler in that it makes us all completely equal - we are lines of text typed by some faceless stranger, somewhere or another. It's ironic that the very lack of identity is not only one of the dangerous things, but at the same time, the thing that makes it such bloody good fun and allows fantastic communication (the like of which the world has never before, seen).
  • Yes... In fact, I dated one for a couple of years, and the next one I met there, I ended up marrying. ;-)
  • Yeah, I'm pretty loose. I'd let him live with me too;)
  • YES and have and traveled five thousand miles to meet them, and they are still some of my best friends
  • yes... i would be out going at times and then at times i would be hoping someone else will ask me☺
  • I have, though I'm very selective to befriending anyone on the internet.
  • Yes. I have some friends online, even some very good friends.
  • I have already...and specially on AB!
