My dad threw our new born kitten into the fireplace while the fire was going, the kitten died of course, what should I do about my dad?

If he was my Dad, I'd beat the living shit out of the cruel bastard. Realistically, you should report him to animal welfare AND the police for atrocious cruelty towards an innocent animal. Anyone who is able to do something that like should not be left alone and unsupervised with children, either. I'm sorry to have to say all of this, especially because he is your father, but the man has some serious issues.

Press charges. Make sure the local paper prints it too. If any of your neighbors own cats, they NEED to know just like any parents need to know about convicted pedophiles. Sure, he may only get a few months at worst (depending on the jurisdiction) but you NEED to let it be known that such behavior is NOT acceptable! Don't worry about his feelings for you. If he can do that, he can't love anyone, yourself included. Besides, who says he can't display such callousness to a human?

That is insane. Jail, LoL then after that get him some psychological help .... I understand giving the cat away, but THAT ?! and where is mother ?.. she would have done something about that.

See if he will seek counceling. He has some issues that need to be brought to the surface. Life is precious and needs to be respected and honored. Maybe his line of what is valuable and what is not needs to be changed. Where do we draw the line for killing critters? we kill rats they can be as big as a kitty. maybe he was trying to teach you about something. maybe he doesnt like cats. and it shouldnt have been brought into the family setting. my dad wasnt fond of cats. he tolerated them because my mom liked cats.

Call Child Protective Services and ask to be taken out of this dysfunctional home. Then call animal control to report his behavior.

i really do hope this isn't serious. that's awful. but if it is i suggest calling cops, and child protective services. that's upsetting and you really shouldn't be around somebody with anger management issues that bad. i'm really sorry for the situation, and i hope things get better for you

I sure hope this isn't for real.. If it is, Leave home then call the police and the ASPCA. If he can do this to a kitten he is a danger to anyone around him.

Okay lets look at the facts. Thousands of animals are killed every year so we can eat. In all those thousands you can't tell me with any amount of credible certainty that NONE of them suffered. We talk about how much looks shouldn't or don't matter yet these animals die most likely due to the one fact that MOST people don't consider them cute. If we're going to go nuts about one kitten let's also go nuts about all the others. Granted we can't eat them but it is necessary to eat as much meat as we do? Also, exactly how much of the meat can even be considered "meat" by the time it touches our lips? I'm not an advocate of animal cruelty but not near enough people see the TRUTH of how hypocritical they really are.

Call Child Protective Services ASAP. This was very abusive behavior, and quite dangerous. They will take care of informing any other parties in regards to the kitten.

That is totally crazy, I have owned kittens and cats most of my life and kittens have a tendency to be "wild" until they are older or get fixed. A new born kitten doesn't get wild so I really don't understand. I think the man even thought he is your father needs serious help. Did he even have a reason to do this? I just hope that you are careful around him. He seems like a seriously disturbed individual. I hope he gets help and good luck to you!
