I usually just google the word (it will usually tell me if it's spelled wrong) or for definitions, google "definition:word". Those usually work for me. (I do have a very old rhyming dictionary at my desk, though... Used to write song lyics.)

Being a former Honors English major in university, I am always referred to as "The Walking Dictionary" by my friends and family. Consequently, I don't have one near my computer.

I've been using WordWeb http://wordweb.info/free/ for years now. I love it because I can use it offline and all I have to do is highlight a word (from your documents or on any websites) and click on a little WordWeb icon at the taskbar and there's the definition/correct spelling. It's easier than bringing up a website then typing in a word.
