• I don't think you need to. At least, I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be expected. People who have sent you a card have done so because they care, not because they expect to be thanked. If you really wanted to, I'm sure a phone call would be appreciated, but I don't think anyone would expect you to worry about that during such a terrible time.
