I just got the iPhone 13 Pro Max on Saturday. I wasn't required to buy anything else. Do iPhones make them money? Yes, they are feeding a demand (want) of the people they sell them to. Go to any mall or location where there's an Apple store. They are always packed full of people, and the customers are there by their own choice. Besides, many of the accessories (phone case, charging device, screen protector, etc) you can get from other vendors on Amazon for a lot less than the Apple equivalent, and they're perfectly fine.
