I like a guy a year younger than me, is that wrong?

I am a sophomore, he is a freshman. We have known each other for two years now, we have felt the same way for a while... is it wrong to date him?

  Why do people mix up those two words anyway? They are totally unrelated and they are not even pronounced the same (except in Norfolk where the regional accent makes them both sound like "then").
