I slip the line through the center of the cork and when it sticks out of the cork I take a piece of a match stick, slide it through the loop, then pull the line until it is snug on the matchstick.

slip the line through the cork. it should sit cockeyed in the water, and when your getting a bite, it'll stand up straight.
