Yes. Nobody should have the right to tell them that they can't have the same security and priveleges as heterosexual couples.

To enforce a gay marriage ban would likely schism the populace, anger a lot of people and most likely cause public and economic unrest. To legalize it would be to allow gay folk to be themselves, which would be better for the unity of the people and not cause as much unrest as a ban.

Hell, yes.

NO. added 7/26/2009 I feel I might need to expand on this. Marriage all over the world is a religious instition. Not only Christian but vertually all religions globally. As one man + one woman. Just because the gov. put its nose in and applied laws (tax, insurance etc.) to the religious institution of marriage. Does not give them the right to redefine marriage as it is still a religious institution. - The solution is to have marriage remain as it has always been a religious rite. And if the gov need something for others to not have the appearence of descrimination. They can have civil unions for the legal benefits of marriage. People who get married will also have to get the gov. civil union to recievee the legal benefits of marriage.

Why Not

I'm ashamed that I live in a country where that has to be a question. Yes, it should be.

Yes

NO

I was raised in church and was always told that being gay is wrong. But as I got older I started to see them as an individual, I really dont care if it is or isnt. There are other things that we should be fighting other than this.... like illegals in America.

It is in Canada!
-
YES! Equality for ALL!

Of Course ... LOVE knows not gender ... Why are people so afraid of allowing two people , of the same sex , to marry each other ..when they LOVE and care about each other ... ? +5
-
Yup! Society shouldn't be able to tell two people in love that they aren't allowed to have the same rights as all married couples.
-
Yeah, every one should have the right to marry who they love, no matter gender.
-
i was a bridesmaid for a lesbian wedding and trust me.. i had more fun than i did being a bridesmaid for a straight wedding lol... if your in love then why shouldnt you get married? it doesnt matter what race you are... so why should it matter what gender you are? :)
-
Anyone who wants to spend their life with another human being should certainly be allowed to do so. God knows, there's little enough of love and kindness in this sad, old world.
-
All marriage should be abolished. A silly outdated idea created by the Church to make and retain wealth. Who cares if Gays marry? It is only a word with no real meaning except in financial terms.
-
even though im not gay, I think it should! everyone else has rights, why cant gays?
-
YES!!!!!!! Every person should have equal rights gay or straight
-
No. The Bible is against it.
-
Yes, it should...also plural marriage right along with it!
-
Gonna get Dr for this one...... NO
-
Along with polygamy.
-
Yes they have just as much right to love how they need to as straight people and if they want to commit to one another through matrimony that should be there right.
-
No. Marriage is a sacrament in the Catholic Church. It's kinda like when the Islamic church put a contract on the head of Salmon Rushdie. Like, you blaspheme our religion. But Christians don't generally condone violence. However, same sex relationships should have the same rights as alternate sex relationships. I think it's Constitutional. And morally correct to treat people as equals.
-
Nope...every society in every country on every continent across the entire earth defines marriage as a man & a woman & who are we to change that for us! I do believe (being raised by lesbians) that they should have the opportunity to live a life intertwined buying homes together, on each others insurance, filing taxes together...those type of things but to "legally marry" nope! Besides, who gets to choose who gets whos last name?!
-
+5 Yes. No current marriage is going to fall apart because gay marriage is allowed. With war, famine, and cancer why do we worry about who marries who?
-
I believe they should be allowed to be married. They are people to. Take all religious views out of the controversy they are just two people who love each other. Why can they not love as everybody else loves with vows to love each other till death? I mean really they are words and rings and its legal...why is it so bad? I guess maybe I just don't view marriage as that big of a deal. Plus if your from America...where the hell are their rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness??

i have a gay child, older child but my child, who i love very much and accept his life totally. i am totally for gay relationships and the legal benefits that would come from a marriage. BUT, i think they should call it something else. marriage has always been between a man and a women. call it something else, have the legal rights that a married couple would have, including the divorces that will happen, but don't call it marriage.

Yes.
