  • most college settings don't cater well to intelligence types, whether you engage in distance learning or not. unless you learn from written word well, i would suggest creating your own cirriculum to replace the classroom "environment." visual learners should diagram concepts, look online for videos about things. kinetic learners should try to get materials to practice with. auditory learners could look for podcasts or internet videos about the subject, etc. a little work on your own, in your own style, goes a long way for understanding. unfortunately, it's much harder to develop learning styles that aren't natural to you. one technique i see a lot of success with is relating the learning media to a style you're strong in. for instance, a visual should stop every paragraph and picture what the words say. an auditory should imagine someone describing a diagram they are looking at. by relating your current strengths to your weaknesses, you can develop a natural way for you to learn through other methods.
