  • No. The church is pretty much the same no matter where you go, and local congregations are made up of all types pretty much everywhere you go. It might be a challenge for someone with little experience having a social life away from the Church to move to an area with only a small branch, but that too can be a growing experience.
  • Move back!
  • Having never lived in Utah, I can't answer from firsthand experience, but I think the answer to this question is going to be as varied as the people that experience it. In any part of the world--Utah included--there are faithful Latter-day Saints, unfaithful Latter-day Saints, and everywhere in between.                                                                                        That being said, I have known several Church members--most of them in their teens--who have expressed an increase in faithfulness once moving from Utah. The three reasons I can think of would be:                                                                                         * increased maturity. They are getting older, after all.                                                                                         * decreased negative peer pressure from other Church members. Outside of the Wasatch Front, most people either remain faithful or stop identifying as Latter-day Saints. With much fewer Church members, there's also much less gray area.                                                                                         * expectations of those outside the Church. They may be their friends' only example of a Latter-day Saint, so they realize the importance of being a good one.                                                                                         Again, I don't want this to be read as "people from Utah are bad"; there are good and bad people in Utah, just like anyone else. I'm just speaking of a few, specific experiences from my own past.
