I would hate it I suppose if I ever got pitied. I really don't know if I ever have been.

I know I am as huge as a house and I am waddling and wincing in pain from a pinched nerve in my back and excessive swelling, but if I hear "Bless your heart" one more time..... No, I don't hate it when people pity me - but I hate to be treated as if I am pitiful.
-
Yes, I hate that. I don't want anyone feeling sorry for me because that makes them feel so superior to me and wouldn't want to be me for anything. I know there's something defective about that thinking, but I'm just being honest.

I don't hate it,but it does us no good.

Some people can't help it. It is a judgement, their judgement. They mean well for the most part,and/or feel more confident when they can help or save someone (even if no one asked).

I know someone who just loves it, she is a total attention ho. Everything she says is drama, drama, drama. Always some mysterious illness that "the doctors haven't figured out yet." She insists on being the center of attention, anyway she can get it. Pity is a major MO for her. For myself, I would not like it if I thought someone had pity for me. I hope no one does.
