Churches support them, they make wine/other things, government grants, and donations. Not so much on the government grants in the US.

They would be financed out of the income from the Order's central funds, which would come out of a mixture of donations from churchmembers and whatever the Order can raise via its own resources (eg if it takes in boarders, makes things, holds seminars etc)
