I work odd hours so I appreciate the phone call.
-
Rather them call first, you know, might be getting lucky, having tome to be watching my favorite show on TV.
-
I want them to call, easier to dismiss them that way. XD No but seriously, I'd rather they let me know, so if I'm busy or not ready I can fix it. I dislike having my momentum broken by people who always just want to borrow money.

I apologize, I see this type of question has been asked a couple of times already and reading the replies, most would prefer a phone call, including myself. I guess I ask because my partner wonders what the big deal is if people just stopped by and he makes me feel really weird if I don't answer the door when I am not in the mood for a company and I explain myself but he just doesn't get it. Does anyone live with someone who prefers the other than what you prefer?

A Call is the courteous thing to do.
-
They should call first if they truly want their visit to be seen as pleasant, and not a burden.
-
I prefer they call me, so I can tell them I'm going out :)
-
Everyone who visits me has to call first so I can unlock the outside security door for them. If it's someone I don't want to see, I just tell them I'm not at home, since they call my cell phone, and they'll never know!

Call first.

call first is the polite thing to do
-
i love it when people jus turn up its a nice surprise then
-
Doesn't matter ! It's better if they call ...else they might have to return if no one's at home :-) !
-
I'm at work most of the day, so I think calling would benefit both me and the other party :P :) But, yes, it is more courteous to call first.
-
i don't have menay people who visit my house, but i would at least like a phone call or something to make sure i am home and dressed.
-
call first. the doorbell is out of order.
-
With cell phones ther's no need for people to just "drop by" anymore. I prefer people to call and most do. But sometimes a surprise visit is great.
-
Call first for I may not be around all the time...LOL...If you get no answer & still want to drop in. We'll help yourself, the doors open. P.S. You may want to stop by the store first tho. Because the icebox is most of the time empty.....LOL :-)
-
Just stop by..thats what folks tend to do anyway because I rarely have a phone that survives more than a week. :)
-
I've got no phone, so i guess they'll just have to stop by.

Preferably call first. I might be busy or about to go out. I remember once when i was at uni. It was near exam times and I was obviously revising at home. The door bell rang. I wasn't expecting anyone and guess who it was, a student friend...The worst thing was, she'd seen me now so I can't exactly say i'm not it. Invited her in and revised together. But seriously she was just wasting my time 'cos she knew her stuff, i think she only needed reassurance. She passed with flying colours. I think I did too but with lower grades!
