I don't know for sure but if I had to guess I would say either New Zealand or Switzerland.

China, as many people as they have, most of them leave no CO footprint at all.

Considering the number of people they have and their efforts to contain their pollution, China.

Germany, they were way ahead with recycling, organice produce and so on. Not so major but next best would be Sweden. It's almost instinctive to the population. (Rough TP ☹)

I think that Iceland is very eco-friendly. They really are very frugal with their energy needs and don't introduce foreign species. They use what they have carefully. Nothing is done to excess.

I couldn't say with any certainty whether or not it's the single most eco-friendly country on the map, but from everything I've heard, Bhutan makes the environment a very high priority. Granted, Bhutan isn't exactly on the list of what most people (western people, anyway) think of as "Major" countries.
