  • I'm actually not in debt :)
  • I'm in the black and proud of it...
  • Well there is that 5 figure student loan.
  • I have somewhat over $500 of debt at the moment. However, that is on a purchase that I made that was 12 months same as cash deal and I have way more than that in my savings account. So, I can pay it off any time that I want. I will, however, probably not pay it off until just before it starts to accrue interest on the loan. That way I will get as much interest out of the money as I can before I actually have to pay off the loan. In the larger scheme of things, I have only rarely had to go into debt for anything. The furthest in debt that I have ever been was when I had to buy my current car. I finished paying that off a year ago this month and that was two years ahead of schedule. I even managed to come out of graduate school with a greater net worth than I had going into it. So, I have done pretty good at staying out of debt in my life.
  • The only debt we have is our mortgage, and we only have 3 years left on that. WooHoo!
  • Further than I want to be, I'll tell you that.
  • Currently, $25000 in student loans...but down from $45000 this time last year, so I'm making progress.
  • Which dept? Shoes, clothes...?
  • Im about $10,000 in credit cards. $15,000 hospital bills, $2,500 in court fees, and a few more. It suxs but im making huge payments every month hopefully in 2yrs ill be out of debt..
  • I'm $0 in debt, but I have over $3,000 on my credit card that will need to be paid in about a month. (The bill hasn't even come in the mail yet. I'll consider it as debt if I'm ever past-due. I use my credit card like a charge card, paying the bill in full and on time every month.)
  • about 5000 in credit card debt. 13000 in car debt. but this is for two people...
  • I have a debt-free status. Thanks to my low salary, I'm forced to live within my means.
  • The only dept around here is the Department of Motor Vehicles, but I don't have to deal with them until 2010 when my driver's license comes up for renewal. As for debt, none. My lack of a credit history (and benefits-based income) makes it impossible for me to qualify for any credit card.
  • I cant answer, I am laughing too much. LOL.
  • Just student loans baby!!!
  • I'm not in debt.
  • im not. =]
  • Not too bad, No credit card debt, just car loan and 2nd mortgage, oh and the HUGH heating bill will probably break us this winter. Forget everything else: We'll be in debt in the spring, for sure:(
  • $0--I only have monthly bills that are paid in full as they come in.
  • Minus the mortgage, close to $20,000. All happened within two years with rising costs of everything, loss of job and serious illness. Unless a miracle happens, I am within ninety days of bankruptcy. Thanks Bush.
  • Will be close to 25k by the time I finish my studies. Lucky student loan in interest free here.
  • Just about a grand and a half, though it is worse since it is long overdue . . .
  • money to burn
  • Well, actually I had those things happen under the Clinton years (and I was a single parent) but the difference was that I was able to recover. I have not been able to recover under this administration and I am going into my senior years. The statistics tell it all I think: (1) Median household income in 2000 (inflation-adjusted):$49,158 / Median household income in 2006:$48,201, [U.S. Census Bureau, 2000 - 2007]. (2) No. of Americans living in poverty in 2001: 31.6 million, No. of Americans living in poverty in 2008: 36.5 million [U.S. Census Bureau, Aug. 2007]. (3) Percentage increase in home foreclosures in the last year: 68 [RealtyTrac. Dec.19, 2007]. (4) Number of American manufacturing jobs lost between 2000 and 2006: 3,066,000. (5) Increase over 6 years in the number of uninsured Americans in 2008: 8.5 million [U.S. Census Bureau, Aug. 2007]. (6) 2000 Medical Insurance Premiums: $172.00, prescription co-pays $5.00, office visits $10.00 2008 Medical Insurance Premiums: 674.00, prescription co-pays 25.00, office visits $40.00. Even with medical insurance, I am paying over $400.00 a month in co-pay costs. (7) 2000 - Family vacation to Disneyland, 2008 - Family vacation - LOL. I could go on. My point is that I have to ask myself, considering all factors, am I, my family and friends at least the same or better off - it is a resounding no with no relief in sight. I am over 50 and I live on peanut butter and jelly and Kool-Aid. My pension is gone, my savings is gone and I will be in foreclosure by the end of the year. Yes, those things did happen to me under Clinton but I sure wasn’t eating peanut butter and planning to move to a warmer climate where I can live in my car. Hope that wasn’t too melodramatic but it is really bad out here for so many of us.
  • i try to stay out of department stores myself.. but my ex is still lost in their somewhere
  • I'm in a $60,000 debt. including school loan, and CC debt
  • I would need a periscope to look above the debt "dept" that I am in. This submarine is on its way down........Anyone got a life vest?
  • It's a miracle I'm still a part of society. We're talking a down payment on an opulent home.
  • 0 debt.... I have credit with 2 credit card companies cuz I always try to pay more than I owe.
  • Good debt or bad? Good debt would be my house which has tripled in value and I never plan to sell. Bad debt would be $6000 but that will be paid by summer. I hate credit cards so I don't use them.
  • lets say roughly 90k in debt but that includes my house so not too bad
  • Not too far. Maybe 2 or 3 thousand dollars...mostly past medical bills. That's about it.
  • I have about 18 years left on my mortgage...so...deeep!
