you cannot catch it in fire red. But you can with a pokemon emerald and be in a nintendo event with mystery gift and a wireless adapter.

The two ways I think might work without cheats: (I haven't really checked these out yet, so I'm just guessing)are 1) Beat the Elite four 12 times and look for Mew where you found Mewtwo in the Cerulean Cave or 2) Get all 150 Pokemon and surf up and down Cinnibar Island. Be careful, because you have to make a combination with the switches that has a Mewtwo statue and when you do it you will see a door you have never seen. There you will find the Pokemon you are looking for. Who is it? The great Mew. * First you catch all 386 Pokemon. Then put twenty of them on level 100 then go and beat the ELITE FOUR with only two of the twenty level 100 Pokemon. Beat the ELITE FOUR ten times using two different level 100 Pokemon each time. Then realease 19 of them and keep one. Then go and beat the ELITE FOUR with that Pokemon only. Go to your house, talk to your mom and then take one quarter of steps as money you have in the house and in every town. When you do that, talk to Professor Oak outside and you find a Mew level 17. It will battle you and its moves, Pound and Metronome, will crush you. Do not attack it. Use a Pokeball and you will catch it. Now I have a Mew level 89 and it is unbeatable. This trick can also work after you catch Mew if you want to catch a Celebi level 17. Be careful because this trick can mess up your game for good (85% for your game to be messed up). I wasted three FireReds and one Leaf Green trying to do this, but it's worth it. Or just get a cheat cartridge, but Mew will not obey you. * You either get a cheat cartridge or fly to Cinnabar (you must have all 150 Pokemon) and Surf up and down the edge of the water. You should just find Tentacool, but Mew will appear. * You can only get Mew three ways: cheats, Cinnabar Island and Rockets. * You need a GameShark or an Action Replay. * You can catch him along island along with Missingno. * The way you get Mew is by catching a Ditto raising it to level 43. Then have it beat one of the Elite Four Pokemon at least once. Then go back to Victory Road and have it in first in your party you'll see Mew! * To get Mew you simply have to beat the Elite Four 12 times and go to Cerealian City Cave where you confronted Mewtwo or go to Victory Road and Mew should appear (or just buy an Action Replay). * First go to Cinnabar then straight after you arrive, head to the Elite Four and beat Lorelei. Save and turn off. Beat the Elite four, but when you are in the middle of beating your rival turn off again. Beat the Elite Four one more time. After the credits roll and when you're in Pallet Town, fly to Cinnabar. Talk to the guy that turns your fossils alive and he will give you Mew. This is not an official Mew, so it is not like normal Pokemon. The only thing different is that it can only raise to level 231. This cheat WILL NOT mess up your game. This is a really cool cheat! Caution: Whatever you do, DO NOT trade it - it will mess up your game even if you start a new one. * I think to get Mew you have to get all 150 Kanto Pokemon. You need both FireRed and Leaf Green. Then go to Celedon Mansion and talk to the Game Freak people. I think some how that will get you Mew. * This is a long shot. I learned this from another master trainer. In FireRed start with Bulbasaur to speed things along. Continue until you get Cut. Then get your spare game ready. I also start with Bulbasaur so things run smoothly, but make one major diffrence when you get the SS. Anne ticket - don't get Cut. Also, don't beat the Veridian Gym. Just continue until you get Surf and since the boat is still in Vernilion just surf arond it until you see a cave. Mew should be there. * First go to Cinnabar Mansion and beat all the burglars. Then read all the diaries and beat one buglar. Mew will appear. * The only way you get Mew is Action Replay or GameShark. That is the only way. * The only way is to catch Mewtwo and then go to Pokemon Center and release the Mewtwo. Also throw it away and then save the game and turn off. There would be nothing, use the infimerider, Mew will Jump out and will atack you, he is just level 70, use Master Ball to Catch. * Raise Pokemon until you get to Mt. Moon. Catch a Geodude and raise it to a Golem. Go and beat Misty and go to Vermilion City. Go to SS Anne and go staight to Gary, whip him real bad and go to captain to get cut. After that go to the other trainers in the rooms at SS Anne and lose, yes lose to them and you'll appear back at the Pokemon Center, SS Anne will still be there. Don't board, you'll still have cut and all the things you need. Go and get surf and teach it to Blastoise/Lapras (or any other water Pokemon). When you taught it surf get golem teach of stength and get your surfing Pokemon. Leave one space in your Pokemon list/belt etc. Go back to SS Anne and go through the first bit. Don't go completely into the ship you'll be able to see the ship, but do not go in. Surf to the right of the platform and you'll see a short bit of land and a bus/car. Go and use golems stength on it the bus'll go away and will reveal a staircase. Down the stairs and Mew will be in a Pokeball on a table in the room, 'Pick it up, it's yours!' * You can't. You have to go to a Nintendo Event with the Old Sea Map! * Go to Celadon City and go to the department store third floor. Go up to the nearest person to you and talk to them. Then take the staris up one floor and press UP B DOWN LEFT A RIGHT L B R DOWN DOWN DOWN and it will make a sound of Mew. Check your party. You third Pokemon should be Mew but dont worry the Pokemon that was in the third box b4 is in your computer in the last box. This also opens a glitch that allows you to use 'fly anywhere', even in buildings! * To catch Mew you have to go to World's Edge Island (You need a special ticket, it's outside Hoenn). It's like a maze but you should be able to find a passage to the deep part of the forest. The moment you arrive, Mew will see you and flee into the grass. Don't worry though: Mew is the only Pokemon in the grass, so all you have to do is corner it. Face it if possible and press "A" to lure it into a battle. Don't assume it'll be a puny lv.7 one like in Red/Blue though. Mew will be lv.30 so you'll need some strong Pokemon that won't KO Mew with one attack. Try to avoid Legendaries though; Mew's Transform attack will prove to be a pain if used against them. * You can only get it with a GameShark or those Pokemon cheat things. That's what I think. yes u can i know all you people who think ur a wiz at these games but ur not!!! the real and only way to catch mew (as i know so far) is to start ur game off with bulbasaur, once your up to fuscia town make sure it is a lvl 45 venasaur 1st in ur team, then have a lvl 38 onix second, 3rd in ur team have a scyther lvl 42, 4rth have a pidgeot lvl 40 and 5th have a gyarados lvl 45, leaving ur 6th slot blank, ok so u have ur team, now that ur in fuscia town, get on ur bicycle and now ride ur bike to the safari zone so ur just outside of it, facing it, now fly to celadon city, ride ur bike down to the motel/hotel were they say they are fully booked, walk to where a computer should be in a poke center and press a,a ,b, b then leave, fly to celadon so ur outside the pokemon center, ride ur bike to cycling road and talk to the 1st biker as u enter the road, now ride down to the grass area on bike road and ride around till you find a fearow(most common in that grass area) make sure ur venasaur has the moves, razor leaf, sleep powder, solarbeam and cut, defeat the first fearo you find with venasaur's cut, should take 2-3 turns, now ride ur bike down to the end of cycling road and enter the building connecting towards fuscia town, enter the building and talk to the person closest to you, then walk out of the builing to enter fuisca(correct me if im wrong with my bad speeling) and ride your bike to the other side of fuscia, enter the builing that leaves fuscia on the other side, talk to the guard and then exit the building, ride ur bike (dont get off it or the cheat is screwed) until you get to the bit where you cut the 1st bush, cut it down and enter the area, it should take you left, keep riding till you see a girl there, talk to her/battle then talk to her after, then fly to viridian city and talk to the girl near the old man that gives u a teachy tv, no fly to cinnibar island and talk to guy who seys blaine's been the gym leader for decades, or sumthing like that, then fly to cerulean city(i know ur flying everywhere im sorry but thats how this works, everything must be exact or u start again), get on ur bike after u fly evertime remember that, so once ur in cerulean city enter misty's gym and talk to the 1st trainer, u may have yo surf to get to him, exit then fly to lavender town, the last bit is, get on ur bike, ride down to mr fuji's house and speak to him, exit the building and ride to the poke center, talke 2 every person inside(doesnt matter what order, exept nurse joy) now exit the poke center and !!dont get on ur bike!! walk over to the place that leads towards celadon city, that small gap, just b4 u walk through it, save ur game, walk through and you should see your screen flash twice, then a battle seen comes up, it say a wild ??? appeared, capture it with a ultra ball only, it will be at lvl 55, after u capture it, fly to celadon and go to the mansion, talk 2 the game designer and a question make should appear over his head, he then runs behind a desk and the other 2 guys walk up to you and say go see the fossil reviver guy, fly to cinnibar and go to the fossil reviver guy, he seys he'll take that ??? off you and go walk around, walk outside and fish in the water with a old rod, when magikarp appears capture it, deposit it in ur pc and then go back to the guy, he will say the ??? reacted to the machine and fled to the wild, now fly to pallet town and surf south till u see a grass area, make sure ur team is in the exact position i said in the start, now use a normal repel and walk around the edges or the small grass area only, the outside edges, walk around it in a clockwise direction, you should rotate a full rotation 3 times, if not use another repel until you do, then when the repel runs out fly to vermilion city and ride ur bike to the diglet cave, ride through it making sure ur not using repels, once your through it ride all the way down to pallet town, go to that grass area you where using repels in again and run around the edges again, !!dont use ur bike and dont use repels!! a pigeotto or a tangela or a ratacate should appear 1st (either one of them) then keep running aroung and the ??? should appear, re-capture it in a master ball and then fly to the game designer again, he will then say u unravelled one of kato's biggest mysteries, fly back to the fossil reviver guy and he will take it in, rune around outside and go back in he will say the ??? was shrouded in a mystic shadow, he then seys he removed it and it turned out to be a white mouse pokemon, he has never encounted anything like it, and congratulations!!!!!..u now have a lvl 55 mew, it also asks u 2 nickname it, name it mew, otherwise it will be ??? forever, if this cheat diddnt work back in lavander town (it sumtimes dusnt werk there for me) start the cheat over again, every step must be done to make this cheat happen, i even seen it happen to me over 100 times and my friend 1st showed me it, it really does work!!!...even if you dont beleive me..fine..miss out on a mew, i rekon every step and everything that you do to get it is a glitch, like a certain amount of things done to do this...tell ur friends to try this !!because it dus bludy werk, u dum ppl who say no its a lie never tried it!!!!!!!...hope my cheat helps you....of course it will!!

No cheat that involves releasing Pokemon will ever get you a Mew, nor will any cheat that involves beating/losing to the Elite Four x number of times, or having certain types of Pokemon at x levels, or visiting this city or that city and talking to this person or that person, or pressing a million buttons. There are only TWO WAYS to get Mew -- through a special Nintendo event, OR with cheat codes. Any other method posted on this page is a LIE, especially those telling you to release your Pokemon. Go on GameFAQs, they'll have an answer. Also, go buy a GameShark or whatever the GBA equivalent is. I can guarantee you that getting Mew will require a GameShark.

Let me make this perfectly clear. You cannot catch a Mew in Pokemon FireRed. The graphic editors and programmers did not program to have a Mew in either FireRed or Leafgreen, but only the program which you can use Action Replay, or the Nintendo Events. You can catch a Mew in Red Version, the 1st Generation, using the MISSINGMEW# glitch, which appears at level 7. Otherwise, any other cheat codes inputed on how to get Mew on FireRed here on this question is either completely false, inaccurate, or wrong.

This is a very good question, that has been disputed by game fantiacs since the game was ever released. However, it is my belief that there is a way to get Mew in pokemon fire red WITHOUT CHEATING. Here's how: You may need to restart your game to do this. You will also need to be ablt to trade pokemon between firered and another version, meaning you will need 2 copies of firered/leafgreen or one of each. Plus, you will need 2 GBA's and a link cabe to do this. You could also use an ActionReplay to bypass some of these requirements, but it is not necessary if you have all of the above supplies, and why cheat if you don't even have to? You must get the moves stregnth and surf and be able to use both without getting the Cut HM, because getting said HM will cause the S.S. Anne to leave. This means you must TRADE IN a pokemon with cut. You will still be able to use the move outside of battle if you beat the proper gym. Then, continue the game as normal, but DO NOT get the cut HM under any circumstances, because after you do, the SS anne will leave, and you will be unable to obtain Mew. Now once you have both Stregnth and Surf, and can use both outside of battle, go back to the dock where the SS anne is. (NOTE: YOU MAY HAVE TO BEAT THE ELITE FOUR AND CATCH MEWTWO BEFORE THIS WILL WORK. I BEAT THE ELITE FOUR AND CAUGHT MEWTWO BEFORE OBTAINING MEW, BUT I AM NOT SURE IF IT IS NECESSARY TO BEAT THE ELITE FOUR AND CATCH MEWTWO TO OBTAIN MEW. IF MY INSTRUCTIONS DO NOT WORK, MAKE SURE YOU BEAT THE E4 AND CATCH MEWTWO, THEN TRY AGAIN, AND IT WILL WORK). After you pass the ticket checker, you will be walking on a dock that leads to the SS Anne. Instead of going all the way to the boat, stop halfway down the dock, and walk to the right, and surf over the water. You will find another floating dock that is shaped like an upside-down letter "L". Go to the top right corner of the dock, and you will find a truck. Go to the left side of the truck (facing the front cabin). Turn towards it and use stregnth. You will be able to push it to the right. As you push it away, you will see that mew was hidden behind it, and pushing it away allows you to encounter and fight it as you would any legendary. You will encounter it at level 30. Have fun! After you do this, go the the Game Freak Mansion in Celadon City, and talk to the people in the building. Talk to them repeatedly, and they will give you too certificates. Then you go back to professor oak, and he will give you a level 70 mew. This is much harder and i haven't verified this or even gotten close to verifying this. Nor am i sure that i believe it However, i feel obliged to at least mention this for some of those i know who are believers of this second method. So for the sake of giving you, the reader, all opinions, i present: 1 THE GUARRENTEED WAY TO OBTAIN MEW I HAVE VERIFIED MYSELF and 2 THE SECOND MOST BELIEVED WAY THAT MEW CAN BE CAUGHT.
