Almost all of them are Tamil songs. So I don't know whether you could get their meaning. And I don't think first record of those songs are available now. I would prefer Amazing Grace from the western world. Very classic one :)

Back in 1969 or so, I used to listen to KAAY-am out of Little Rock, Ar. They had this "underground" radio program that was on from 11pm to 2 or 2:30am. They used to play a song called "The Legend of the USS Titanic". This song alluded to the cause of the wreck being that the crew had been smoking pot, like, all the time. Anyone know who did this song and what album it was on?

Good song in its musical composition, but it brought the concept of Socialism to America. Lennon was a textbook Socialist.

How can you pick one song if you love music? I can't even pick one for every genre. Sacred, "How Great Thou Art." Classical, "Nessun Dorma." Rock, this site isn't big enough to hold them all. Country, probably anything by Patsy Kline Nothing by Lawrence Welk! That's for starters.
-
Wicked Game, Chris Issak

Too many to mention. I had my own Big Band radio show years ago and found many 'favorites'. I was always bopping around to something. Probably the Mills Brothers, "Daddy's Little Girl" "Hot and Anxious" by Fletcher Henderson because part of it was lifted by Glenn Miller for his song "In The Mood".

"Favorite" would have to draw on what I like at the moment since there are so many to choose from. Currently, it's a toss-up between "End Of The Line" by the Traveling Wilburys and "Baker Street" by Gerry Rafferty.

There are so many oldies I absolutely love. To pick a couple I'd choose "Why do fools fall in love" Frankie Lymon & the Teenagers, "Heatvave" Martha&the Vandellas" For me the quintessential Motown", "Whiter Shade of Pale" Procul Harem", "Lets Dance" Bowie, :"Hey Jude" Beatles" , etc.
