LOL - there are literally THOUSANDS of crazy errors in that cult book, aren't there? It's almost entertaining watching Bible believers chase their tails, trying to do everything they can to explain the nonsense.
  • because the bible is a sham. Its mans interpretation but man wasnt around when god created life so how the fuk did they know what to write anyway. Adam and eve had two sons, and even consistent with noahs ark, everyone, thing and animal should be inbred and therefor retarded. I have better things to read.

"because the bible is a sham" -- 100% correct. Amazing how people still fall for that garbage even today.
  • Either one big torch, or the Bible is made up. Not a hard question :p
  • God did it.
  • Antigone - you know this question can't be answered. None of us know what lies beyond this world and or anything that can't be proven scientifically. I'm not saying there is no God. But we all know that God can't be proven. That doesn't mean he doesn't exist. Just outside of our realm or dimension of understanding. People can only choose to believe or have faith. As for your questioning of biblical events, consider that they may not be meant to be taken literally, but more as parables. And you know you are bound to invite snide comments from non-believers when you ask for logical explanations of the Bible. I respect your faith and am glad you have something higher than yourself and the material world to believe in.
  • Light had to be created before the sun otherwise it would not shine light?
  • With God all things are possible. A person demonstrates that they do not know the meaning of the word omnipotent when they say God cannot do this or that. Even in the Big Bang theory, there is light in the universe outside of that created by stars. These gaseous nebulae emit light and then slowly coalesce into stars (Some of my terminology might be off but I think the concepts are close). Look it up. With love in Christ.
  • God is the source of light for the world.
  • Well obviously someone had to create darkness, whats wrong with that?
  • The Bible, God's Word, tells us that Jesus Christ is God(John 1:1-14, Colossians 2:(, Hebrews 1:8), thus, He is the Creator. The Bible calls Jesus "the Light" and even tells us that He and His Father will be the light in the kingdom of God, New Jerusalem, and that there will be no more night. So, God simply must have created the light without the sun by His own Light and His own power. -In the service of the Master. Thank you and God bless you!
  • Thorough understanding of Genesis 1 requires considering the original Hebrew text. English translations can be misleading. For example, on day 4, verse 16 might imply that the sun and moon were created after the formation of plants----a problem for scientists. The actual Hebrew verb tense, used in conjunction with the words in Genesis 1:1, correctly indicate the sun and moon "became visible" at the surface of the earth on day 4 (but were "previously created").
  • some of the explanation i believe has to do witht he water canopy theory. there is a theory that because the earth was dark and void that it meant that the planet earth had some kind of cover or something around it (most likely some kind of gas) to keep the light from space from reaching it. when god said let there be light, he caused that cover to dissipate allowing for the first time for space light to be able to enter our atmosphere. At this point remember that light travels very fast. carbon dating shows that the planet itself has been around for millions of years. He then created the firmament (air we breathe) to divide two sets of water. The two sets of water in question is the planet water from which the ocean will be made up from and the water above. The waters above is the water canopy that will callapse at a later time causing the world wide flood. This is called the water canopy theory. At this point the light from the stars that are meant to determine seasons and times starts to shine on the planet. He wanted to make it easier for us to tell the difference between night and day, so this is when the sun and moon actually becamse visible to the planet. remember that light travels very fast and the light from the sun was reaching the planet before the sun and moon finally found their rightful place in orbit.
  • Because we associate "light" with the sun we think this is light. Actually no one really knows what light is. True, light has a wave length but it is also made of particles of light. The Lord God was showing us the sun and light are two different things. Jesus Christ is often called, "the Light" but He isn't actual light. Maybe there is a connection between the light the Lord God created at the beginning of the world before the sun and the everlasting saving Light of Jesus Christ. Something to ponder on.
  • Simple. It is possible if you read the both verses in detail. If you notice verse 3, it is referring to the beginning of light "before" it gets divided from day and night. While verse 16 explains how the two lights were divided after all to further conclude the process.
  • 8-5-2017 The bible specifically says Elohim, not Yahweh. Yahweh (YHVH) was the lawgiver. Elohim was the creator. It's like if your daddy was the sheriff. You might want to talk to your daddy, but not to the sheriff. Elohim created in verse 1, verse 21, and verse 27: three acts of creation. He did not create light and darkness. You really need to stop being so sloppy in your studies. You might also notice that the bible says TWO lights. Ancient Egyptians recorded that the Earth had two suns before the one we have now. All these things were recorded by eye witnesses, carved into rocks and preserved in oral traditions. Here is a very long investigation of those records: http://saturniancosmology.org
  • Let's see if that really is according to the Bible, shall we? . . . . https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=gen+1%3A3&version=NASB1995;NRSV . . . . So: first and foremost: the Bible doesn't teach what you claim. . . . . Now: how could light exist before the Sun existed? It could if the Sun was not the first source of light in the Universe - which idea is agreed upon by practically all cosmologists.
  • it's not, just more evidence that the bible is a fairytale
  • 1] In the beginning yhwh created the heaven and the earth. [2] And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit I've got paced back and forth like a woman in travail . Over the surface of the watery deep [3] And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. Now we jump over to Hebrews chapter 1:1 and we find out that this light that the holy Spirit just gave birth to was the logos the word of God the one we called Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ was the firstborn of all creation he was the light of the world that's what we're talking about in this scripture the holy Spirit. The mother of creation God's wife if you will gave birth to what we now call Jesus Christ. After God creates the animals and the other things of creation God says to somebody let us make man in our image. We already know who that us is. Holy Spirit the word of God the logos Jesus. God was talking to his immediate family let's make man in our image and God creates man male and female! There is proof right there that there was a male and a female present when God said let us make man in our image! God modeled us after his own family. And the Bible said that God made a division between the darkness and the light. Now we move on to the book of Hebrews because once the holy spirit gives birth to Jesus he's not called Jesus at that time he's called the logos the word of God or the light of the world. At that point Jesus takes over he creates everything on the planet Earth once he is created. Apparently the purpose of the planet Earth was to give God's child something to play with! Anyway Hebrews chapter 1 tells us that Jesus made every other thing once he had come into being. A few chapters later in revelation God creates the physical son and the moon and the stars using his word the logos the one we now call Jesus. Now we have a physical light that makes the plants grow. I hope that has shed some light on how light got created before the sun and the moon and the stars. That does sound quite confusing but it's really not that confusing when you read it in the Hebrew language because when you do you understand we're not talking about the light that makes plants grow at first we're talking about the light of the world Jesus who made all other things
  • That's not what it says. "Now the earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters. And God said "Let there be light!" This is not referring to the luminaries, seen in reference to Isaiah 60: 19 The sun will no more be your light by day, nor will the brightness of the moon shine on you, for the LORD will be your everlasting light ‘Or, and your God will be your glory. Then Genesis goes on to say "And God saw that the light was good, and He separated the light from the darkness." Hence, the demonstration of these things in their respected meaning. Then follows "God called the light “day,” and the darkness He called “night.” Night also having the meaning of tohu and bohu and chaos and confusion. So God in his first act shows us who he is. Of course then we were thrown into tohu and bohu during the fall, Jesus came to us as the light and the truth, entering into the darkness to save us and unite us with the light.
