Why don't Filipinos speak Spanish?

They were ruled by the Spanish twice, and have a hundred native languages amongst their islands, you'd think Spanish would become their business language and spread from there.

Many do. We had a filipino priest at our parish for several years and he said Spanish is his first language. I had a buddy from my old logging days and his nickname was also "saltlick".
