I think people need to be educated on the pro's and con's of both before making a decision: https://populationeducation.org/what-are-pros-and-cons-solar-and-wind-energy/

It depends where you live. I have a solar array at my house. I live in Vermont. Even with some really extreme government subsidies, it took about 8 years to recover my out-of-pocket cost. I thought it'd increase my property value when I went to sell, but I hadn't counted on teenagers breaking my panels, birds and bugs nesting in them, hail damage, etc. Wind would have generated more efficient power where I live, but the subsidies at the time were not enticing enough, and I would have been taking a larger risk.
