• This made me think of a little quote I heard once. "If Israel layed down it's guns today, it would cease to exist tomorrow. If the Arabs layed down their guns today, there'd be peace in the Middle East tomorrow."
  • Back to my question which is focusing on the influence of lobbies on military policy: Having adequate defense and strong diplomacy are not questioned here. Our failed regime change wars sold as actions to "liberate the people" of a nation, have repeatedly failed miserably. Is the world better off in these places today. I think not. Halliburton and its subsidiaries no-bid contracts as one example was a windfall of private sector profits. We seem to have plenty of money to spend when it enriches the corporate welfare state.
