New iPhones can easily cost more than $1,000, but less expensive models still perform well. It all depends on which features really matter to you.

*IF* you want cheap and reliable and easy-to-use, without needing videos and extreme graphics gaming, I recommend the cheapest Samsung phone. Bonus: in my experience Android does a much better job with speech recognition than does Apple. Makes texting SO much easier. Right now the Samsung A14 is the one to get. *** If you need waterproof and cheap and reliable and easy to use, the iPhone SE is the one to get. You'll pay probably double to triple what you would pay for the cheap Samsung, but it really is waterproof. As mentioned, speech recognition is not as good as with Android. *** If you want fancy-shmancy features, tell us what features you want and maybe we can recommend something more high-end.
