I always liked Piconary, Scattergories, Taboo, and Jenja. They're really good for large groups of people and can be real ice breakers.

For a party you absolutely have to have Twister!

For larger groups, games like the new "Scene It" ones are lots of fun. Also, some like Scattergories or Cranium are good to have on hand. If you have the right number of people, Clue is my favorite game ever!

I like Tri bond, Scatagories, Balderdash, Trivial Pursuit, Pictionary, Sorry, Trouble, Clue, Life, and Monopoly.

Apples to Apples is the BEST party game ever. It's amazing. You should check it out. If you're looking for a party game, then that's your game. If you also want to play it with yourself.. you can't. It's really best when you have a lot of people.

well monopoly can last a long time but it is fun! I like Sorry, Life, Deal or no Deal (but I guess you would have to like the show), Yahtzee, Boogle, Scategories, Pictionary, Taboo, Mad Gab (its pretty funny lol), and Fact or Crap

A lot of good ones have been mentioned, but don't go past some of the oldest and most traditional: checkers, chinese checkers, snakes and ladders etc You can often find a compendium box of these for a very small price. Then people can split into smaller groups and play, changing boards at the end of each game.

I think any game that has a big old stack of trivia questions is great. Then you can make up your own game, involving money or points or drinking.

There is a game called "Would You Rather" that a friend of mine bought at Books a Million and we (several of us) had a GREAT time playing it. I had never heard of it before, but it is a great game. We also like Scattergories (sp?) and Trivial Pursuit.

the key to throwing a good party is to keep everyone happy. playing a fun game, having everyone involved, and it staying fun can be tough sometimes..but it is essential. my wife and i are board game buffs...tho we have fun playing a variety of different games, the best games to play at parties, where there are a decent amount of ppl are ones that require very little explanation, or very little props..cranium is definitely ruled out, along with clue, monopoly, etc. these are games that are either too long, or too much to do, keep it simple. apples to apples is an AWESOME game. i never played it before, went to a christmas party, picked up on it right away then won! was like 15 ppl there..there are two versions of it tho, an adults, and a junior, make sure u get the adult version, its funnier..this is definitely my number one suggestion...

apples to apples and catch phrase..keep it simple, the more instructions and "things to do" (like cranium or clue) the more ppl are like ehhh lets just forget it..apples to apples, make sure u get the adult version, not the junior version, but these two are the best for a decent amount of ppl..

I vote for the Settlers of Catan. I have spent many hours playing it with family, and it's different every time. If you plan to play it at parties, you'll want the expansion pack, which lets you have six players instead of four.

Pictionary is always a blast, Balderdash is good if you have literate people who can be creative, and sometimes simple things like the old Twister game is great after a bunch of margaritas.

Cranium - it's a great party game because it gets everyone playing, and is low-competition (all players compete together against the clock). Played it the other day, and was shocked at how much I liked it. If you know the people you are playing with, Apples to Apple is fun. Not as fun if you don't know how they think ahead of time, though, but still okay.

If you are the only person in the home - you always have Scrabble but with friends u have ur scattorgories trivial pursuit scene it etc. More people the better or other wise its just a waste of money and get games that will gain cobwebs

All you need is a deck of cards, a group of friends that either know how to play poker or can easily be taught and lots of money and lts of alcohol. IF you think it is not a board game, use a freaking scrabble board to put the cards on :p
