Definitely not. Unless you are running a public server or something, or you are downloading a huge file, it's pretty irresponsible from an energy-use perspective to just leave it on all night.

I bought it three years ago, and baring a power outage, It never been off. They last longer if they don't heat up and cool down every day.

Not after my last laptop's HDD got trashed after just under two years.

I rarely use my desktop and when it's not in use it's turned off. I have my laptop on all the time unless I'm transporting it, then it's either sleeping or off.
