High protein foods (steak, burgers...yummmm); carbs, as long as they are not too greasy...onion rings, if prepared correctly, nachos with lots of protein (refried beans and cheese) served with the good veggies like fresh lettuce and freshly made tomato salsa (you may recognize it as "pico de gallo") and just a hint of sour cream; very crispy french fries, well-drained and not greasy; pizza, if you make it yourself at home so that you can control the toppings (start with Pillsbury's pizza dough and go from there!)...Laz's Wench is looking hard to find the bottom of the beer case and Laz has a wonderful cheese pizza in the oven, so today Wench is an authority on this subject, lol! Hugs, happy eating and drinking!

If by "high alcohol content beer" you mean barley wines (beers with an alcohol content over 8%), the following combinations are particularly good: Roast meat, hot or cold, especially beef, lamb and game. Especially good with mango chutney. Good, strong-flavored aged cheeses and blue cheeses. Nuts Dried fruits like figs, dates and apricots Fresh fruits, especially pears, cantaloupe and fresh pineapple Heavy chocolate deserts Vanilla ice cream, with or without apple pie Egg custard and flan Pumpkin pie Gingersnaps, pfeffernuesse, speculaties and similar spicy holiday cookies.

Beer bread soup! Toasted bread, cream, sugar, egg yolk, and lemon peel. I mix these with strong beer, add some cold water, then whisk the mixture under a low fire until it just begins to boil. Remove from heat, add the diced toasted bread and a bit of lemon peel. It's a Scandinavian recipe called Ollebrod and it's delicious.
