  • Keep in mind that a lot of things in the bible might not be intended to be interpreted literally. Lots of stories in the bible are just that, stories. They are intended to convey message and meaning, not to be accurate. Personally, I have come to the conclusion that the bible is not true, however, I think you could conceivably believe in the worth of the bible and accept science at the same time. There are quite a few groups who do this. Good luck.
  • The bible is based on faith not fact. That is why there is such a difference between science and religion.Science is not a foe to religion just a clear analysis of the material world.
  • This is all the answer's you need. This man Ken Ham is a christian scientist, and know his stuff. Also the bible does speak of Dinosaurs. In Genesis Giants once roamed the earth. He expalins. http://www.answersingenesis.org/articles/1999/11/05/dinosaurs-and-the-bible
  • Disconnect God and faith from religion and bible.
  • If the scientific side makes more sense to you, than why don't you just go with that?
  • I would seek a church that does not have a problem with science - and there are many. Most Christians worldwide do not try to use the Bible as a science textbook. I myself learned evolution and the big bang at a private Christian school (in Europe).
  • You can believe in the religious truth of the Bible AND scientific facts. There is a fundamental difference between truth and fact. It is true that God exists but I cannot prove it. It is a fact that President Bush said he invaded Iraq because of weapons of mass destruction but it is not true. Catholics believe that the Bible teaches truth about God but it is not historically factual at all times. The Bible's primary purpose is to teach us the truth about God and His (or Her) love for us and how we should love each other, not to teach facts about history or science. All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for refutation, for correction, and for training in righteousness, so that one who belongs to God may be competent, equipped for every good work. (2 Timothy 3:16-17) Here is a statements on the Bible by Evangelical and Catholic Christians together, "Your Word is Truth" (2002) http://www.firstthings.com/article.php3?id_article=2058 For more information, see the Catechism of the Catholic Church, section 105 and following: http://www.usccb.org/catechism/text/pt1sect1chpt2.shtml With love in Christ.
  • Keep in mind that: the bible was written 2000 years ago when people still didnt know snot about the world or universe. They still thought the sun revolved aroun the earth, and they had no way to prove that old bones they found in the sand were 2 years old or 2 million. In the last 1000 years, science has lept huge bounderies that used to have a lock on the human imagination. If the bible had been written today instead of 2000 years ago, the men who wrote it today would make a modern day jesus. But of course, it was alot easier to claim that you had seen a burning bush and it was a dude talking to you about what was bad or good for humanity, because as you can see by the stories written in the bible, people would believe in almost anything in those days, because they had no reason to question or disprove it, they pretty much followed whoevers praise had the most fans. these days we have a cool thing called thinking for yourself, and yes it does make people self righteous buggers who will stand on a soap box of their own ideals about everything until someone punches them off it, but it also means we can further our knowledge on a personal level or for all humanity without worrying about being burned upside-down on a cross for questioning gods words.
  • Which is more important to you? Worshipping your God? Or worshipping a Book?
  • I have a couple of ideas that may help you: 1. Stand in front of a brick wall and hit your head against repeatedly untill you believe 2. Come over here and I'll bash you over the head with a King James Bible till you believe 3. Have a lobotomy (I may be able to do it for free or at very little cost with a filet knife)
  • You cannot believe in Science and the *whole* bible - particularly the Book of Genesis. But you can believe in Jesus and the New Testament. Where did Jesus ever say or imply that Genesis is the literal truth? How does Jesus' death and resurrection make a folk-tale written at least 1500 years before "the truth". Many sincere Christians take Jesus and his teaching from the New Testament as their law, and the Old testament just the stories that were told in the country where Jesus lived.
  • first of all, dinosaurs are mentioned in the bible. second, believe what you want to believe. asking people on the internet will get you nowhere. you'll probably end up with more questions than answers. so just go with the idea that an invisible omniscient being is guiding you or believe that you make your own destiny & nothing happens when you die. that's about all there is to it. oh & spelling correctly is a plus. try that as well.
  • i think you need to have more faith in god hon
  • If science has not shown you that religion is little more than primitive superstition and you wish to keep your faith, consider the bible as a metaphor and remember that people wrote the bible, not God, so it isn't lacking in faith to believe it may be a little flawed.
  • There is nothing to "prove" the Bible, it is to be taken on faith, not proof. But there is nothing that says that scientific facts can't be accepted as well. And to date, I know of no scientific fact which gives concrete proof that the Bible is false. One must also remember that the Bible contains parables which are used to illustrate the lessons being taught rather than to be taken literally. In Genesis, it speaks of God creating the animals, but it doesn't say exactly what those animals were. Or what form they were in, even a single celled organism can be considered life, can it not?
  • The bible does harmonize with modern science. As for the bible not mentioning dinosaurs, why would it have to? It doesn't mention every living animal known to man. Dinosaurs do not disprove the bible at all. I do not understand where you get that notion.   Here is some science that the bible mentioned before man discovered it.   Isaiah 40:22 "He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, and its people are like grasshoppers. He stretches out the heavens like a canopy, and spreads them out like a tent to live in." Job 26:7 "He stretches out the north over empty space And hangs the earth on nothing." In both of these scriptures the bible harmonizes accurately with modern science. The Heavens (space) expanding and earth hanging on nothing. Keep in mind that when these scriptures were written the ancient beliefs held that the earth was flat and sitting upon something. And no real clue as to what was above in the Heavens. This certainly separates the bible from any other book before its time and even after. There is no place were the bible disagrees with modern scientific fact. There is more like the description of the water cycle and hygiene.   Here are some links that touch on this issue. http://www.answerbag.com/a_view/7048866 http://www.answerbag.com/a_view/4291377 http://www.answerbag.com/a_view/3801378
  • Well science hasn't helped with your spelling so perhaps if you read the bible it might improve your spelling. At the very least all the reading will help.
  • Education is your key. Do your own research, and don't be intimidated by people who claim that science disproves the Bible. It's not true. Including and especially the Genesis account.   Scientific thought is continuously revised. Old theories are cast aside and replaced regularly.   Learn as much as you can about the history of and operation of the universe, the earth, the Milky Way Galaxy, the laws of physics, mathematics, chemistry, forms of energy, dark matter and energy, etc. Most people barely stick their toe into science, are told what to believe by people who they think know more, and get intimidated.   Also, get a more solid understanding of what the Bible really says. Don't rely on others to tell you what it says. You will be surprised how much sense everything makes once you increase you knowledge of both science and the Bible.
  • ... as mentioned, the Bible contains stories that teach ideas, concepts, and guidelines for how to live your life ... it is not to be taken as a totally literal history book ... ... if you believe in a God that can create the universe, be anywhere / everywhere throughout eternity, then look inside of yourself and seek the part of your God that lives within you ... be your own living temple and live in a harmonious oneness with the God you find within, for it is the same God that is the Great Maker and the same God mentioned in the Bible ...
  • My openion let the science guid you to the facts in the Bible .The Bible is caring about your life with god and how to know him more . I think you need to clarify your mind and try to understand .I belive in Bible but please say to me what confuses you I need to Know What is the science fact that made all this confusion.I hope I can help;).
  • You can believe in both. Here are two links to show you how. http://www.watchtower.org/e/20020608/article_01.htm http://www.watchtower.org/e/20040122a/article_01.htm
  • Yeah, I don't get that. I don't get why Gone With the Wind doesn't say anything about dinosaurs either. It couldn't be because neither book is about dinosaurs, could it? The Bible is a book about the relationship between God and man. It doesn't talk about dinosaurs because it isn't about dinosaurs.
  • The Bible is allegorical. It's a book that contains wonderful ideas and stories that can help you in life. The problem is, trying to take it literally. Consider it like one of Aesop's stories. Lessons on life, not a chronicle on true events or real life.
  • Science has the upperhand on the human heart and its desires and needs. On light and darkness, and on what is good for mankind. It has the upperhand on love, and humility?...Charity, and faith? ...naw. ...all science has is its numbers and theories. besides, it doesnt keep disprooving the bible...its just men make it seem that way.
  • If you depend on the small spectrum of science and logic then you are boxed into that answer.
  • If your heart and soul is saying that you should follow the Bible then you should not worry about science ,beause they do not believe in religion and they always demand the evidence ,so go ahead and do what your heart and soul is saying .
