  • Stephen: my father's first name Corydon: my Great-Great-Granfather's middle name I go by Cory: my Great-Grandmother's maiden name I like my name but find it annoying when my first name is abbreviated or shortened due to space and I am called Stphanie or they mispronounce Stephen (Stee-vin) as Stephan (Ste-fun). I also find it mildy annoying to have to answer the timeless question: "Why do you go by Cory?" When I was in college I just let it go as Stephen. Of course, it makes it handy for telemarketers as they always call me Stephen or try to "familiarize" by calling me Steve. When it came to naming my children, my wife wanted "original" names (her maiden name is Jennifer Ann Johnson, now Thompson) and I wanted normal names. So we settled on Isaac Matthew, Madelynn Rebekah and Elise Sarah.
